"Health food may be good for the conscience
but Oreos taste a hell of a lot better."
~ Robert Redford
Dad was in town for a bit of a food tour. Just because.
He arrived early, after dropping Lorrie off at the airport for her NYC trip.

Morning French press coffee.
Lunch at Big and little's - bahn mi taco
If you are in Chicago, go to Big and little's, on Orleans a bit north of Chicago Ave. They have been featured on"Check, Please!," "Diners, Drive-ins and Dives," and "Chicago's Best." Go a little off hours to avoid too long of a wait.
The original plan with Dad was to go out every meal, but then we received an invitation to our friend's birthday cookout. These friends put out quite a spread for the most casual
of get-togethers, so we knew a birthday celebration would rival any restaurant we could go to. The food was delicious, delightful company, and the weather was summer perfect. The festivities went on late into the evening.
Homemade raspberry liquer
Herring and gourgères (with bacon)
Burek - spinach / cheese and meat
Fruit tarte
I don't know what this is called and I forget the fillings, but
it was so good. It was Dad's favorite, he said I need to get the recipe.
Cake made in secret by our friends for their husband / dad.
Cute and super yummy!
